Welcome to Emerald Nights! This guide will help you install the modpack and start your adventure.
⚠️ Important: Emerald Nights requires Minecraft 1.20.1 and Fabric Loader 0.18.4
System Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- RAM: 6GB allocated to Minecraft (8GB system RAM)
- CPU: Intel i5 or AMD equivalent
- GPU: Dedicated graphics card recommended
- Storage: 5GB free space
- Java: Java 17 or newer
Recommended Specifications
- RAM: 8-10GB allocated to Minecraft (16GB system RAM)
- CPU: Intel i7 or AMD Ryzen 5+
- GPU: GTX 1060 / RX 580 or better
- Storage: SSD with 10GB free space
Installation Methods
Method 1: Modrinth Launcher (Recommended)
- Download and install the Modrinth App
- Open the Modrinth App
- Click "Browse" and search for "Emerald Nights"
- Click "Install" on the modpack
- Wait for the download to complete
- Click "Play" to launch!
Method 2: Manual Installation
- Download the
Emerald_Nights_1_0_1.mrpackfile - Open your Minecraft launcher (supports Modrinth, Prism, ATLauncher, etc.)
- Import the .mrpack file
- The launcher will automatically set up everything
- Launch the profile when ready
Method 3: CurseForge/MultiMC
- Install Fabric Loader 0.18.4 for Minecraft 1.20.1
- Extract the modpack files to your instance folder
- Place mods in the
modsfolder - Place resource packs in
resourcepacks - Place shader packs in
shaderpacks
Allocating RAM
For optimal performance, allocate at least 6GB of RAM to Minecraft:
In Minecraft Launcher:
- Go to Installations
- Click the three dots next to Emerald Nights profile
- Select Edit
- Click More Options
- Find the
-Xmxargument (usually-Xmx2G) - Change it to
-Xmx6G(or higher if you have the RAM) - Click Save
First Launch Tips
🎮 Initial Setup
- First launch will take longer - Mods need to initialize
- Configure video settings - Lower render distance if needed
- Enable shaders - Press ESC → Options → Video Settings → Shaders
- Check controls - New keybinds have been added by various mods
⚙️ Performance Optimization
If you experience lag, try these settings:
- Lower render distance to 12-16 chunks
- Set max framerate to 60 FPS
- Disable shaders or use lighter shader packs
- Turn off mipmapping in Video Settings
- Reduce particle effects to "Minimal"
Your First Night
🌙 Survival Tips
Emerald Nights adds new challenges and features:
- Gather resources quickly - Night is more dangerous with new mobs
- Build a shelter - Find or create a safe place before dark
- Explore carefully - New structures contain valuable loot but also dangers
- Craft better weapons - Check the Crafting page for enhanced weapon recipes
- Guard Villagers - Some villages have guards that will help protect you

Troubleshooting
❌ Game Won't Launch
- Verify you have Java 17 or newer installed
- Check that you have Fabric Loader 0.18.4
- Ensure Minecraft version is 1.20.1
- Try allocating more RAM
⚠️ Crashing Issues
- Check crash logs in the
crash-reportsfolder - Disable shaders if crashes occur with them enabled
- Update graphics drivers
- Remove any additional mods you added
🐌 Low FPS / Lag
- Allocate more RAM (8-10GB recommended)
- Lower video settings (render distance, particles, etc.)
- Disable shaders or use lighter ones
- Close other applications while playing
- Use Sodium's video settings for fine-tuning
